Books We are Reading 2/10
You know the feeling of when you go to the library and you don't have a clue of what book to get for your younger children? You are tired of Curious George, Goodnight Moon and Where the Wild Things Are and want something fresh? I have felt that way too. I'm wanting to get in a better habit of researching great children's books online at home, putting them on hold at the library online, and then make going to the library a weekly habit at the same time every week. I hope that's not too much to ask for. I'd love for you to comment on books you are reading too!
Here are some of our latest treasures:
We read That Book Woman for a bedtime story tonight. Perfect! Not too wordy, beautiful illustrations, and meaningful. I love that it shows that books are important and service is too.
This is what Cowboy requested. We started reading the Little House series with the littles about 3 years ago. We went through the set with the bigger kids about 7 and 8 years ago. I was inspired to start the littles on it when they were 3 and 4 to increase their attention span for reading aloud and it has worked. The story of the little girl who falls in love with the Little House books at age 3 in Jim Trelease's Read Aloud Handbook inspired me. Cowboy insisted we read one after the other but after the last one I was Little House saturated and wanted a break so we delved into the Narnia series. Then I couldn't find the next book after we finished Magician's Nephew so we are back into Little House. I love the ideal of manhood portrayed by Almanzo.
